Copilot DuckDuckGo Isn’t Working
A major Microsoft outage has disrupted several services, including Bing.com, Copilot for web and mobile, Copilot in Windows, ChatGPT internet search, and DuckDuckGo. The issue began around 3 AM EDT, primarily impacting users in Asia and Europe.
User reports and our tests indicate that attempting to open Bing.com results in either a blank page or a 429 HTTP code error. Interestingly, the Bing search function remains operational if accessed directly. For some reason, the outage only affects the homepage.
To use Bing, go to this URL and perform your search as usual; it will work. However, Copilot is entirely offline, whether you access it via the website, app, or within Windows.
Additionally, it’s important to note that ChatGPT internet search and DuckDuckGo are facing similar issues since they rely on the Bing API.
DuckDuckGo cannot load search pages, showing an error message: “There was an error displaying the search results. Please try again.”
While Microsoft has yet to comment on the outage, OpenAI has acknowledged issues with ChatGPT internet search in an update on its support page.
This is a developing story…
Update 1: Microsoft has confirmed an issue preventing users from accessing the Microsoft Copilot service. “We’re working to isolate the cause of the issue. More information can be found in the admin center under CP795190,” the company noted in a post on X.
